The Virginia Division of Forestry has the men and equipment available to prepare an area for planting trees whether it be brush or cutover woodland. The rolling drum chopper, pictured above, is the tool used for site preparation. The work is done by the Division at cost. This machine will be in operation Friday, June 22 at the David Strahle property on Routes 630 and 631 north of Flint Hill. Turn off Route 522 at Foster’s packing house onto Route 630. This type of preparaUon and planting will assure good, fast growing timber for the future. The State has a pine reforestation program that will pay for one-half the cost of pine establishment, provided the total does not exceed $40 per acre. For information on forestry activities contact Forester Evan'L. Sharp in Madison or Clifton Jenkins, Forpst Warden in Rappahannock.
