Price increase
EVERYBODY’S PRICES except ours have been going up, and now we’re being forced to join the trend. Increasing costs of everything we use, including second class postage rates, make the increase unavoidable.
Effective with the first issue in October, the newstand price of the Rappahannock News will be 15 cents per copy, a price already well-established by several area publications. The cost of mail subscriptions will be increased to $4 for the local area and postal zones 1 through 4; zones 5 through 8 will be $5.
This is the only price increase in a number of years, despite the fantastic trend of price rises that have taken place. The latest postage increase, for example, will increase mailing costs an average of 18 per cent.
The increase will not, of course, apply to those subscriptions already in force.□
