28-bed nursing unit for medical and surgical patients, and a 82-bed long term nursing care unit.
The Family Practice area in the existing hospital will be enlarged by construction of additional space adjacent to the present unit.
Business, administrative and records offices will move to the large space now occupied by the kitchen and dining areas.
Pediatrics will be located in the area vacated by the business offices. The 12-bed unit will end the necessity for locating child patients in the adult patient areas.
IN RELATION to the $4.5 million cost of the entire project, Steger noted that a $721,500 grant has been obtained through the federal Hijl-Burton program and that funds would now be sought from individuals, business, industry and organizations in order to reduce the ^principal of the hospitals financing obligations.
“Actually,” Steger said, “the more of the principal that is repaid, and the earlier it is repaid, the lower will be each subsequent years’ interest payment, thereby greatly lowering the total cost of the entire development program. ”□
