Three varied and interesting private homes will be on tour. The houses include Montejurra, home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Brent Bozell, near Huntly on Route 522, built in 1897, originally for use as a hunting retreat for the men of the Gordon family. Mrs. Douglas Gordon had the northern addition built that includes the living room with its “Musicians Gallery.”
The panelling in this room is made of wood grown on the place. After purchasing the property from J.A.B. Dahlgren in 1965, the Bozells have kept this “period piece” intact; their only remodeling was to add a glassed-in porch to Mrs. Gordon’s old suite.
TEA WILL be served at “Montejurra” both days of the tour.
Also on tour will be Stone House Hollow on the Fodderstack Road (Route 628) home of Mrs. Raymond B. Allen. This group of old stone buildings was part of the large Dearing tract of land that was purchased by William Pullen in 1960 and sold to the present owner in 1960. There were three buildings on the site, built in 1810, but the main house burned down many years ago, and the old stone chimney has now been incorporated in the landscaping
