FORMER county Treasurer Robert L. (Jock) Brown has questioned the legality of the county paying $1,000 to help pay for legal expenses involved in the effort to block new powerline corridors.
The Supervisors voted to mgtke the payment after Phil Irwin, president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, appeared to ask for financial help. Fauquier County has appropriated $5,000 to help pay attorneys and technical advisors.
“Is the RLEP a chartible organization? Is this legal?” asked Brown at last Thursday’s meeting of the Supervisors.
