Mrs. Douglas Hayes of Amissville participated in the Virginia Quarter Horse Association’s Virginia Jamboree show during the weekend in Richmond with her “Charge M. Leavin” which was judged the 1973 Futurity Champion Weanling Colt. Mrs. Hayes has been showing each weekend for the past eight or ten weeks, but “This was the big one,” she said, “and this was the first time I had performed before three judges.” The Hayes live at Sundale Farms but have recently purchased property near Rixeyville. A show aide holds the silver plate presented the owner who will also receive prize money, the amount to be determined later.
