Canning clinic
IS IT always practical to preserve food at home? Do you save money? These and other questions will * be answered at a meeting Tuesday, May 14 which will be held at the Episcopal parish hall, Washington, Va. from 9:30 until noon.
It may cost as much to can at home as the commercially prepared product, but the home canned variety may be of better quality. Ingredients, equipment, time and storage must all be considered when figuring the cost.
“Testing-Checkup For Pressure Canners” will be a feature of Tuesday’s meeting when the dial indicator type canners will be checked. Pressure canners can be brought for checking.
Other discussions will include canning jars, jar rings and lids and any canning equipment. □
