Charles Hughes
Charles Edward Hughes, 28, of Philadelphia, Pa. died May 2 in Philadelphia.
A funeral service was held Tuesday from the Bethel Baptist Church Amissville conducted by the Rev. Mr. Alsberry. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was born in Rappahannock County, son of Mrs. Lutricia Peyton Hughes of Philadelphia and the late William Harrison Hughes.
In addition to his mother he is survived by three brothers, Harrison Hughes of Richmond, Robert Hughes of Huntly and Marshall Hughes of Philadelphia; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Fletcher and Miss Ada Hughes of Philadelphia and Mr. Jennie Jordan of Flint hill.
Pallbearers were Bud Turner, Smith Roy, Dennis Roy, Russell Jordan, Homer Nat and Roger Roberts. □
CARNIVAL DATES
Sperryville Fire Department has set the dates for the annual carnival there for Wednesday through Saturday, July 24, 25, 26 and 27. Features of the fournight event will be the annual parade Thursday night and awarding of the grand prize Saturday. Other activities will be held nightly.
