From Page 4 room, the audience was anxious. At one point, H.B. Wood left his seat and went to the door of the room where the Planning Commissioners were sequestered. Wood stuck his head in the room, apparantly to ask how the planners were coming along, nodded, closed the door and returned to his seat. When the Planning Commissioners finally emerged, Chairman Herbert Barksdale said they were ready with a recommendation, and he’d ask the man who drev£ it up to read it. So Pete Luke read it aloud:

“The Planning Commission recommends that (a) lots 8"9 and 90, Section 33. Rappahannock County Zoning Map. be rezoned Business B-2 for the purpose of building and operating a service station-garage, subject to the approval of the health officials for the intended purpose; (B) That the applicant not violate the spirit and intent of the Zoning Ordinance with establishment of an automobile graveyard or junkyard; (c) Lots 89 and 90 be screened within one year after construction is initiated, on the north and east, with trees, preferably evergreens, and set back from Route 211 one hundred feet or at a distance determined by the zoning administrator and in accordance with the Rappahannock County zoning ordinance.”
