ed. “You’d better believe it,” Jenkins said. Davis looked it over. “I see what the problem is. It’s been recorded but it’s never been set to record. So it wasn’t in the index,” said Davis.

“Whew! That had me worried,” Ned Jones said. “Are you satisfied?” Pete Luke asked of Davis. “Yep,” the Commonwealth’s Attorney said.

DAVIS HAD some comments about the wording of the recommendation. He thought, as Luke had suggested earlier, that some of the wording was redundant. Davis said that the Supervisors were only asked to rezone the lot. Jenkins would have to apply for a use permit before opening the station. Davis also talked about how a gas station and a service garage are two separate uses. “Conditions will generate at a garage that won’t at a gas station,” he said. Davis said this would have to be considered by the Board of Zoning Appeals when Jenkins applied for a use permit.

Luke repeated what he referred to as his “three findings”—procedures had been followed, the rezoning wouldn’t change the character of the community, and Mrs. Latham’s house was already obstructed by existing trees. The Supervisors then voted unanimously in support of the Planning Commission’s recommendation.— Pekay Pettus
