The Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP), which became an official section of the Highway Safety Division on March 24, allows judges to refer drunk driving defendants, by request, to an alcohol rehabilitation program. When the program is completed, the judge may accept satisfactory completion in lieu of a conviction.

A report of the resultsof a study of right-turn-on-red intersections in Virginia, jointly conducted by the Department of Highways and Transportation and the Highway Safety Division, is due to the General Assembly and the Governor by Oct. 1, 1975. The study will evaluate Virginia’s present law, which permits a right turn after a full stop at intersections where a sign permits the turn, and an alternate method used in some other states which allows right turns at red signs unless prohibited by a sign.D
