Dog warden Bruce t^old the Supervisors he didn’t want a vacation or a raise, but he would like to become eligible for retirement pay, once he retires. Bruce said he has been told ho is not eligible for retirement because his position as dog warden is considered “part time.” He has been dog warden for 16 years.
“I never have been able to understand what was part time and what was full time. I get called every hour of the day and night,” Bruce said. Bruce said he did drive a school bus twice a day until 1969, but in his mind there was no question that the job had been full time since then.
The Supervisors agreed. They directed clerk Ned Jones to write the state compensation board, explaining that Bruce is a full time county employe and should be eligible for retirement pay.
THE Supervisors accepted the resignation of Evan McNear as civil defense co-ordinator and appointed the Rev. Jennings Hobson to replace him.
