VIRGINIA’S traffic deaths for the first half of 1975 showed a decline of 15 when compared with those for the same period of 1974, says Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police. There were 450 deaths during the first six months of 1975, as compared to 465 for the first half of 1974.
“Although the decline appears slight,” he said, “it was gained in spite of a rise of from four to five percent in traffic volumes and if we can finish the year with a reduction it will be the third consecutive one.” However, he noted that deaths of persons now carried as injured and late reports can add slightly to the 1975 toll.
