NOTICE
All members of Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative will experience an increase in the Wholesale Power Adjustment Clause on bills rendered February I, 1977 for electricity consumed during December. This charge of $12.40 per 1000 KWHs represents an increase of $5.20 per 1000 KWHs over the amount charged on the January I, 1977 bills for November usage. The sudden increase was caused by both increased usage (severely cold weather), and the absence of nuclear generation by VEPCO's Surry Power Station due to refueling of one unit and repairs to generators of the other unit. Several coal fired units were also out of service for scheduled maintenance. Under those circumstances, it was necessary for VEPCO to increase the use of higher cost oil fired generation.
Because of the impact of the high fuel costs already experienced, an increase will be seen on bills for December, January, and February.
