CORN PRODUCERS are invited to the Area No-Till Corn School Friday, January 28, Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria. The program starts at 9:45 a.m. with a panel of area corn growers who will share their experiences in different methods of no-till corn production. V.P.I. Extension Specialists will give a breakdown of production costs in different methods of corn production. Allan Kates and representatives from two chemical companies will discuss weed control practices. THE 73 PERFORMANCE TESTED SENIOR BULLS sold Saturday, January 15 at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises for a total of $66,340. Average price was $909.
The top selling bull, an Angus consigned by Owen Thomas & Sons of Round Hill, was purchased by W. H. Perkinson of Harmony Grove for $2,675.
Bob Anderson’s top performing Angus bull sold for $1500.
The 44 Angus bulls averaged $859 per head; one Brangus $410; seven Herefords averaged $790; nineteen Polled Herefords averaged $1,028 per head; and two Simmentals averaged $1,550 each.
Horsemen interested in competitive trail riding are invited to participate in the North American Trail Riders Conference next Saturday, January 22, Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria, Virginia. Topics will include veterinary judging, horsemanship judging, horse and rider conditioning, ride management, and trail riding. Instructors will include Bill Throgmorton and Fred Kirlaham, noted trail ride authorities from California and Carl White, Equine Specialist, Cornell University. □
