a 1967 fire engine which will replace a 1954 truck that has served the community for 22 years. In light of the cost factors, a new truck in 1954 cost approximately $10,000; in 1967, the cost would be approximately $28,000; today a new truck of the same caliber will cost in the vicinity of $45, 000 to $50,000.
Fire department^ in Rappahannock County do not receive any funds from the tax base in the county, only personnel contributions. Money is needed to pay for new apparatus and equipment in Amissville and firemen will be starting a door to door fund drive in February. All contributions are tax-deductible. □
