In celebration of the opening of the school’s new formal garden, Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly will sponsor an art show for area students in grades one through eight on Saturday, April 23. The show will be held in the new garden, adjacent to the school, unless it is raining, in which case the show will take place in the school auditorium.
There will be three categories; painting, and drawing; sculpture, and photography. Students may make entries in any one or all three categories.
In the category of painting and drawing (oil, pastels, acrylics, watercolor, pencil, ink, charcoal, etc.), there will be three classes: Beginner (grades 1, 2 and 3); Intermediate (grades 4, 5, and 6); and Advanced (grades 7 and 8).
In the categories of sculpture and photography, there will be one class only in each (grades 1-8).
Judging will be done by a panel of impartial, professional artists. Cash prizes of up to $15 will be awarded the winners in each category, and a plaque will be awarded to the school having the greatest number of winners.
