The Washington and Flint Hill Fire Departments responded to a field fire on Route 627 at Dr. Oettinger’s February 22. The same day both companies responded to another field fire, at Mrs. F. D. Wood’s on Route 628. February 23 the fire departments answered a call to a field fire at Wayne Smoot’s on Route 628.
The Flint Hill Fire Department responded to a brush lire on Route 641 near Flint Hill on February 26.
The Washington Fire Department was called to George Sharp’s on February 25 but services were not needed. February 26 the company responded twice to grass fires at Wallace Critzer’s. This unit responded to a fire behind Merrill Motor Co. on March 1.
The Sperryville, Washington and Flint Hill Fire Departments responded to a field fire near Five Forks on March 1.
Heather Slonneger was taken from her home on February 24 by the Flint Hill Rescue Squad to Warren Memorial Hospital. The Squad took Mrs. Hattie Lillard from her home on February 27^ to Warren Memorial. Luther Payne of Washington was taken from his home to Warren Memorial Hospital on March 1.
The Sperryville Rescue Squad took Randolph Devers from his home to Culpeper Memorial Hospital on February 25.
The Washington Rescue Squad transported Hugh J. Racer from Warren Memorial Hospital to a nursing home in Stephens City on February 26.
The Chester Gap Rescue Squad took Dakkas Williams from Front Royal to University of Virginia Hospital Thursday.
Since the first of March the Amissville Fire Company has res-,, ponded to a chimney fire at the William Young home near Castleton, a grass fire at the Norvel James property on Route 611, a field fire at the Miller place on Route 643 and at the Turner Settle property on Route 640, plus a roadside fire on Route 211 east.
Amissville Rescue Squad took Mrs. Frank Walter to Fauquier Hospital Tuesday.
March 7 the Washington Rescue Squad took David Campbell from his home in Harris Hollow to Newton D. Baker Hospital, Martinsburg, W. Va.
Washington Fire Department answered an alarm to a field fire March 1 at the Jamieson property at Five Forks, along with the Sperryville Department where about 8 to 10 acres burned. The same day this unit responded to a fire behind Merrill Motor Co.
