The Recycling Center at Washington is located behind the Merrill Motor Company at the end of the alley and is for the convenience of all county residents. Articles which are acceptable for recycling include tin cans, paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, magazines and catalogs.
There are a few simple rules to follow in using the recycling center. Please take your items inside and sort them according to kind. Cardboard boxes should be flattened. Tin cans should be clean, ends removed and flattened. All glass should be clean and tops removed. It should be put in the proper barrel according to color, clear, green or amber. Window glass is not acceptable.
Aluminum includes single pressed cans with no seams, pie pans, TV dinner trays and foil. If you have objects of which you are not sure there is an “in doubt” can.
Newspapers, magazines, etc. should be tied in bundles or put in brown bags so they do not get tossed around. Wax milk cartons
