Miss Petros has in a short time become one of the most sought after young artists of the contemporary scene. The “glorious lustre of her voice “was praised by a Redlands California reviewer, who said, “She is beautifully posed and her rich, vibrant mezzo-soprano soars effortlessly and agilely at her command.’’
In 1974, Miss Petros made a debut with the Houston Grand Opera in a starring role of the world premiere production of Thomas Pasatieri’s “The Seagull,” based on a Chekhov play. She repeated this role later with the Seattle Opera. After this performance, a reviewer called her, “an expressive singer with a warm lovely tone.”
During the 1976 summer, Miss Petros sang at the inaugural season of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis and also at Wolf Trap farm. This season she will perform “The Marriage of Figaro” with the Opera Association of Western Michigan and “La Cenerentola” with the Florentine Opera of Milwaukee.
