grant and has absorbed all administrative costs in order to allow the full $53,000 to be available to the rural fire departments. Over 400 fire companies throughout Virginia will have benefited from this matching program during the past three years and will have received grants totalling $177,000.00.
The funds were available for certain specific items of fire equipment and fire training on a matching basis. Amissville elected to use their grant-in-aid to assist in purchasing a new mobile radio. The new radio will improve their communications which will in effect give additional fire protection to the communities they serve.
