The church was first established in an old schoolhouse and as it grew in membership the present building was constructed. It flourished and eventually had over 300 members, then in 1949 with dwindling membership the church closed, and fell to the hands of vandals.
The building is presently being restored as funds become available and plans have been made to have a painting day Saturday, April 23 beginning at 7 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help with the work of painting the inside of the church. Bring a paint pan and roller and join in the work. Richard Eastham of Washington will provide scaffolds and will be in charge of the project.
The restoration began in 1976. Windows have been replaced, shutters are being repaired, the grounds cleaned up, floors fixed, etc.
There will be a regular worship service at Mt. Salem on Sunday, April 24 at 3 p.m. The public is cordially welcome to attend. There, after services are regularly scheduled for every second and fourth Sunday afternoon,at 3 p.m.D
