Virginia’s First Lady, Mrs. John Dalton, attended a Cancer Crusade luncheon, a Special Education program was approved and a dogwood was planted in front of the Treasurer’s office in memory of Jock Brown. County Planners denied a request by Dorothy Davis for a rezoning of a tract of land just outside of Washington. A rash of fires plagued the area. Sen. Eugene McCarthy was the featured speaker at Rappahannock Library and the Title I budget for school programs was approved. It was apple blossom time and the local Lions celebrated 20 years of service, while construction began on the Clerk’s office. Reynold’s Store in Sperryville was robbed.
