How To Cope With A Snow Storm When Caught In The Car.
Make sure your car contains a survival kit which you can make yourself. It should contain first-aid supplies such as bandages, first-aid cream, iodine, aspirins, etc. plus facial tissues, flashlight, knife, and hand tools. A large coffee can can be used to hold the items. Raisins and candy should be included since these kinds of food keep for a long time and provide energy to keep warm. Other additional items can be batteries, heavy string, wire, matches and pencils.
Many parts of the car can be used to help get the car going if it is stuck in the snow. The hubcaps, sun visors and air filter covers can be used as shovels to remove snow from around the wheels. Carry a bucket of sand to sprinkle on ice for traction.
When staying in the car while it continues to snow, be sure to shovel any snow away from the exhaust pipes before running the engine for heat. Make sure there is ventilation before starting the engine.
When staying in the car, don’t remain in one position.
