Tractorcade

It is not often that a movement or cause that is national in scope can be identified with the goals and desires of the vast majority of residents of Rappahannock and surrounding counties.
By choice we have identified ourselves with these citizens who opt for life in a rural community with a strong agricultural foundation.
The American Agriculture Movement (AAM) is today the clarion call for action'by those who would preserve our family farm system and create an environment conducive to the pursuit of farming for our children and future generations.
AAM believes that economic conditions in rural .America require that provisions of the present 1977 Farm Bill be implemented to the maximum levels of support and that new legislation to protect the livestock industry must be enacted.
AAM has organized a national tractorcade to Washington to publicize its goals to the population at large and Congress in particular. I am a Fauquier County farmer’s farmer from Orlean and staunch supporter of AAM, and I recently attended a meeting of wagonmasters from 17 states in Oklahoma City. This meeting developed the details for implementing the national tractorcade.
On Jan. 22 tractors and support vehicles and equipment will depart from seven locations in the midwest and southwest.
