December marks a time for work and pleasure for the members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club as their year culminates with the Christmas Greens Workshop, the club’s sole money-making event of the year.
This workshop, in which all garden club members participate, provides the operating funds for the year: the club’s award to the valedictorian of the June graduating class of the Rappahannock County High School, the necessary funds to beautify the public areas at the Courthouse and Historical Society, and money to send two children to the Virginia Federated Garden Clubs’ Nature Camp at Vesuvius, Virginia, each summer.
The club’s successful fund raising is receiving attention from other clubs, and last Tuesday the Garden Club welcomed Grace Fields and Ellen Miyagawa of the Fluvanna Garden Club from the Piedmont District, to the workshop to observe the operation with the idea of incorporating such a workshop in their own club.
With the conclusion of the workshop and having accomplished the ways and means for the financial commitments for the coming year, the members turned their attention to pleasure and attended the annual Christmas luncheon at the delightful School House Restaurant in Flint
