Disney reportedly wants the state to fund anywhere from $60 million to $100 million for a new interchange on Interstate 66 and an access road to the park. Disney also has said the state may need to accelerate the widening of 1-66 and U.S. 15, already in the state’s improvement plans, to handle projected increases in traffic.
Disney’s demands for state concessions 'are a first for Virginia. Facing this precedent, lawmakers remain undecided about how much the state should pay, thus leaving them open to lobbying campaigns from Disney or Disney opponents.
