Gladys Burke
Mrs. Gladys Mary Hawkins Burke, 83, of Culpeper died on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Culpeper Health Care Center.
She was born in Rappahannock County on Nov. 6,1910.
She was a retired nurse. She had worked at the Virginia Baptist Retirement Community.
She was a member of Women of the Moose and Culpeper Baptist Church.
Her parents Were the late George Robert and Eva V. Burke Hawkins.
Her husband was the late Charles J. Burke. They were married for 64 years.
Survivors include two sons Harris H. Burke of Culpeper and William E. Burke of Texas; seven grandchildren Patricia Lynn Pickett of Amissville, Melinda B. Lohr of Tennessee, Phillip Wayne Burke of Culpeper, Angela J. Burke of Fredericksburg, Leitha Burke Atkins of 11 Culpeper, Anthony Burke of Texas and Dean Burke of Texas; 11 greatgrandchildren; one brother Clifton M. Hawkins of Manassas/and two sisters Mattie Hawkins Hitt of North Carolina and Catherine Hawkins Cox of Fredericksburg.
She was preceded in death by } two brothers, Robert Hawkins and William B. Hawkins and one son, Charles Albert Burke.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper with Dr. H.O. Browning and the Rev. John S. Far- j rar officiating.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Oliver Lohr Jr., Eugene Ryder, Wilson Snead, Randy Ellington, Tim May, Kenneth McGhee, George Stover and Frank f Omdorff.
Minnie Racer
1 Minnie Marie Racer, 84, of Sperryville, widow of Robert Racer, died on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at her residence.
A native of Page County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Bailey Deavers.She was a member of the Culpeper Seventh Day Adventists Church.
She is survived by a son, Walter Jenkins; a daughter, Harriet Kindall, three granddaughters, Melissa Kindall, Jennifer Kindall and Joan Garcia, and a great-grandson, Christopher Garcia, all of Sperryville.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 16 at Geest-Johnson Funeral in Culpeper with Elder D.W. O’Ffill officiating.
