The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church in Culpeper with Mrs. Thomas Eastham, Regent, presiding. After welcoming members and guests, she thanked the hostesses for the afternoon Mrs. Bernard W. Crigler, Mrs. T. Edwin Grimsley and Mrs. James Harkness.
In the President General’s message, read by Mrs. Dieter Kneupfer, Mrs. Blair thanked all members for the previous year’s accomplishments, and suggested a few New Year’s resolutions, all designed to promote the goals of the DAR and to improve the Society to the best of each one’s ability.
The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. W. Ramsey Richardson, a member of the Albemarle Chapter in Charlottesville, a Docent at the DAR Museum in Washington and Chairman of the DAR Good Citizens Committee, VADAR.
Her subject was “Educational Services of the NSDAR.” Under those services affecting the community at large, she spoke of the American History Essay nationwide contest and the Good Citizen’s Award, another nationwide project. Six schools benefit from gifts and endowments by DAR members-in 1990 over $800,000.-two schools having been built by the DAR.
