Members are also required to report on a subject related to their project and learn important communication and public speaking skills. The Club goes on field trips to learn about the many facets of raising animals. In addition, they have participated in state livestock judging contests at Virginia Tech. The vast majority of the members attend college and report that their experience in the Livestock Club benefited them greatly in many aspects of life.
Many of the members have received scholarships as a result of their participation in the Livestock Club. In addition, the earnings they received from the sale of their projects helped many members attend the college of their choice.
Rappahannock is a very special county and agriculture remains a strong economic factor in the community county. Economic support of the 4-H members is important to continue to maintain that quality that sets Rappahannock apart from other places.
