For once chef Patrick O’Connell was a dining guest himself and received royal treatment at a dinner and breakfast hosted by the White House this past weekend.
At the invitation of Laura Bush and the Library of Congress, O’Connell, chef7proprietor of the Inn at Little Washington was a participant at the third annual National Book Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The President and Mrs. Bush entertained the authors at a black-tie dinner the night before at the Library of Congress and hosted a breakfast for them at the White House the following morning.
O’Connell’s dinner partners were Secretary of State Colin Powell and his wife, Alma, who has written two children’s books.
The National Book Festival featured a new pavilion this year called Home and Family, featuring food, cooking, gardening and related topics. O’Connell and Jacques Pepin, host of several PBS television cooking shows, were the two chefs chosen to represent the
