Geneva Welch, one of the region's favorite artists, will be exhibiting her newest paintings at Long View Gallery in Sperryville from Oct. 9 through Oct. 27, with a reception for the artist on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The show, entitled “The Family Farm,” features landscapes and paintings of animals from Welch's Flint Hill farm and her native Virginia surroundings. Everyone is invited.
Wrelch paints in a beautiful representational style that captures the endearing qualities of animals and the gentle beauty of the Virginia Piedmont and Blue Ridge Mountains. As a native of Allegheny County, Virginia and long-time resident of Rappahannock County, she draws upon a lifelong love for the natural world for the inspiration for her paintings. Welch is renowned for her sensitive paintings of cows, sheep and other farm animals.
