Stricter
parking
laws?

The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors had its first look at the proposed parking and traffic ordinance at Monday’s meeting. The ordinance enables the Sheriff’s Office to ticket vehicles for parking violations.
A public hearing on the ordinance will be held at next month’s board meeting.
The proposed parking ordinance allows the sheriff to ticket illegally parked vehicles whether or not the driver of the vehicle is there.
Currently officers can issue a ticket only if the driver is present, even if the car is illegally parked in a handicapped zone, or completely blocks the road as sometimes happens to county residents who live near trailheads.
