Making tracks
The saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words” couldn't be more appropriate when we look at this week's front page photos of what schools in our area offer their students in the way of a school track—and what we do. Paul Gall's photographs tell the story. The story is we are way behind the pack and need to take the lead to offer our students the same opportunity as those against whom they compete. The Rappahannock County High School track is awaiting a rebirth. The School Board is considering a proposed plan for upgrading athletic facilities which includes a $298,800 six-lane regulation rubberized running track. Where the money is going to come from to do this is the question. It doesn't make sense to refuse any money that is a good faith contribution.
