Although a rubber surface track itself as a line item is projected to be $299,000 out of a total project figure of $795,000, it’s not feasible to assume we would do nothing else. Incidentally, the $795,000 figure did not include fencing to protect the assets nor a concession/restrooms/press-box structure. But no cause for alarm as it must be emphasized that this was the very first presentation and the School Board has had no opportunity to even discuss the matter yet.
How would we pay for a track?
Well, I hate to be a big disappointment but I don’t have the answer to this one. But I do know how we won’t pay for it. Bake sales and selling pizzas aren’t going to cut it. Let’s just run the numbers. Assuming that we would make $3 on a dozen cookies or a single pizza, to hit $800,000 we would need to sell 3.2 million cookies or 267,000 pizzas.
Well, even if we could generate those kinds of sales, after being appointed VicePresidents of Marketing for Fortune 500 companies, who are we going to get to bake all those cookies?
