The ordinance provides fines ranging from $10 for overtime parking to $100 for a handicapped parking violation. Fines are doubled if not paid within 15 days. Recipients of a violation can request a court hearing
The ordinance does not apply to the Town of Washington which is considering one of its own. It does apply to private roads in the Blue Ridge Mountain Estates section of Chester Gap.
In other action, the board heard a report from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Chappell that Rappahannock County High School has been provisionally accredited by the state, but that information and figures calculated by the school district indicate that the school should be fully accredited.
In his report on accreditation Dr. Chappell noted that the high school has been "provisionally accredited " He said that the state uses information provided by the testing organization and that there were differences in their figures from the school’s information.
"We feel the school is fully accredited. Once the numbers are done, Rappahannock County High School will be well above 70 percent," he said, referring to the requirement that 70 percent of the students must
