Theatregoers will have a special opportunity this weekend to see a beautifully presented theatrical and musical program—"The Shepherds’ Play”— created for this season that reminds us of the early origins of the musical celebrations of Christmas.
Rappahannock community actors, actresses, singers and musicians return to the Ki Theatre stage for the twelfth year to tell the story of the birth of Christ as originally conceived by poets, church composers and musicians from Medieval Europe.
This play, which had its origins on the tiny island of Oberufer in the Danube River, has been preserved by tradition from the Middle Ages by dedicated troupes of actors the world over.
The play will be performed on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6 at 8 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at Ki Theatre on Gay Street in Little Washington.
