The Piedmont Spinners and Weavers Guild meets every second Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County library. Tb show its appreciation for the use of the library facilities the guild presented a book, “Weaving Without a Loom,” to the library. The book has simple projects for all the family to do together.
The presentation was made on Nov. 19 to Denise Kruczynski, library aide. The book is inscribed “Donated to the Rappahannock County Library by the Piedmont Spinners and Weavers Guild, November 2003” and is available for all citizens to use.
The guild, organized by Linda Witt of Amissville, has 30 members. Members come from as far away as Luray and Warrenton. Activities include carding fiber, spinning on both drop spindles and assorted wheels, plying the yam, dying, knitting, weaving and felting.
Some members raise their own fiber from sheep, goats, rabbits, alpacas, and llamas giving the group the fun of blending different fibers. New members are welcome apd can call Linda Witt at 540-937-4707.
