This season, the public has contributed a variety of foods and about $700 in monetary donations to benefit the county’s less fortunate citizens during Christmas, said Marie Davis, office manager at the local Social Services department.
“There are always families who come in and have nothing for their children and we try to have some funds available for people to give gifts,” said Davis.
“We try to, I guess, play Santa Claus for the have-nots.”
The agency also operates an adopt-a-family program. This year the agency is helping 14 families.
