As voted by the supervisors, 0.3 miles of the road will be paved as part of the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Rural Rustic Road program.
Under this program,, selected secondary roads are given a tar and chip surface but are not widened. Roads may receive drainage improvements before paving. The project was made a part of VDOT’s six-year plan, which means it may take several years before paving actually takes place.
Grimsley Road is partly paved now, including a steep and curvy section at the eastern end at the intersection with Route 729. The plan approved by the supervisors would pave an additional 0.3 mile ending at Harry and
97.0%
