Marshall M. Atkins
Sperryville resident
Marshall Monroe Atkins, 65, of Sperryville died Dec. 9 at his residence.
He was bom April 11, 1938 in Sperryville to the late Monroe Kelly Atkins and Ella Catherine Atkins.
Mr. Atkins retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years and served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Dodson Atkins and one brother, Ned M. Atkins.
Mr. Atkins is survived by two sons, Dean Atkins of Sperryville and Neal Atkins of Huntly and three grandchildren.
Additional survivors include five brothers, Charles H. Frye, Kenneth C. Atkins both of Luray; Woodrow P. Atkins of Stanley, Robert E. Atkins of Warrenton and Ronald E. Atkins of Washington; two sisters, Charlotte A. Vaughn and Nancey C. Kellison, both of Luray.
A funeral service was held Dec. 12 at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John K. Burke officiating. Interment followed in Sperryville Cemetery.
Archie D. Bailey, Jr.
Washington resident
Archie David Bailey Jr., 67, of Washington died Dec. 8 at his residence.
Mr. Bailey was bom March 17, 1936 in Rappahannock County to the late Archie D. Bailey, Sr. and Frances Kindall Bailey.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Front Royal and a former member of Front Royal Church of the Brethren.
He was employed with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company for 15 years after which he owned and operated Archie’s Auto Repair. He was a former member of GideonsJntgmational.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Jane Long.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lois Kreisher Bailey; three sons Archie D. “Arch” Bailey, III, of Front Royal, Daniel M. Bailey of Washington and Donald A. Bailey of Front Royal; one
