Ear! Lough lin has been in Fauquier Hospital for over a week, following surgery; Earl and Annie used to have the delightful Celtic shop in town, Anilorfs Celtic House. We trust that by the time this goes to press, Earl will be recuperating at home!
On Saturday, March 15, the Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary honored the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department at its annual banquet. Approximately 80 firemen, rescue personnel, volunteers, invited guests, and ladies auxiliary members attended. The dinner was catered by The County Cafe in Washington with a wonderful dinner of fried chicken, ham and all the trimmings, including tasty deserts. The beautifully decorated fire hall made it a more festive occasion. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment by international vocalist, Sheree Jennings of Bentonville, VA.
The Ladies Auxiliary presented Bob Metcalfe, treasurer of the Fire Dept, a $5000.00 check to help the fire department pay down its debt on the new fire truck. Charter members were recognized; Piggy Russell, first president of the Ladies auxiliary in 1954; Emory Russell; Nelson (Jr.) Atkins; Randolph Foster and Charles Foster.
