Irene Walker, was the great, great, great granddaughter of Bishop Richard Allen, founder and first Bishop of the African ^ Methodist Episcopal Church (AME). Margaret Richardson prov ided a $500 down payment and in 1948 Camp Oak Hill opened for business. The most notable African Americans who attended the camp were the first African American Doctor and Mrs. Horace Man Bond, father of Julia Bond. Of the 106 patrons on the 1952 list. 16 had doctorates or were medical doctors. The list includes the Hon. Heibert Miller, first elected judge of a court in Penn. Ms. Richardson was the first black female in the American Camp Association. The camp continues to occupy 79 acres ot land. Through DNA testing. Ms. Richardson discovered her ancestors originated from Nigeria. West Africa, and are from Yoru people. Ms. Richardson leaves to morn - Saundra Shifa Richardson, Phd., and her husband Owel. Ado Shifa. God daugh Margaret Davies, retired Ecom. and a host of friends. A champagne brunch was enjoyed by friends and patrons. Ms. Marg Richardson was one of the original members of the First Baptist Church of Washington, VA. Saundra Richardson continues to i in the family residence that was built in 1836 in Washington. VA.
