As family and friends struggle to come to terms with the loss of a well-liked Rappahannock County High School junior and football player, Virginia State Police continue to investigate the single-vehicle accident in which Logan McKieman, 16, died as a passenger early Sunday in Castleton.
During the 2:15 a m., crash on Whorton Hollow Road, Logan was injured when the 2002 Ford F-250 pickup swerved off the road striking a poplar tree and overturning He was on the passenger side closest to the impact.
Following the crash, the other two occupants, a 17-year-old driver and another passenger, also 16. were treated for less serious injuries at Fauquier Hospital, state police spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler said. < Because they are juveniles under the age of 18, the two cannot be identified by the Rappahannock News.)
Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue transported all three crash victims to the hospital, where Logan was pronounced dead. All three were wearing seatbelts, Tyler said
