And Parade Held Monday

The parade and the Liberty Bell repilca exhibition program, sponsored by the American Legion, at Washington Monday evening, was well attended by the citizens of the county.

The parade, forming at the residence of L. V. Merrill, proceeded down Main street, turning at the C. T. Bruce residence and concluded at the Courthouse. “Miss Liberty,” Mary Norman Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr.1, and John Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Turner, were leaders of the parade. They were followed in line by the American Legion Post 245 color guard, Edward W. Gore, C. H. Cloud, W. H. Lyne and M. W. Bivsn, who preceeded the Liberty Bell. Following were members of the Washington, Sperryville and Flint Hill Boy Scout Troops, accompanied by Scoutmasters Rev. A. Paul Thompson of Sperryville and Paul L. Miller of Flint Hill. Following next in line was the Washington Fire Department truck driven by Charlie Jenkins, accompanied by members of the Woman’s Auxiliary. The fire truck of the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, with H. H. Aylor as driver, concluded the parade, which disbanded in front of hte courthouse, where the program was held.
