Tuesday’s town election in the First Washington pointed the sign for the ladies to take over in September—a woman mayor and an all-woman council. They take office the first Thursday in September.
No one filed or qualified and it was a complete write-in ballot
Mrs. Achsah D. Miller polled the largest vote, 70, from 90 ballots, with one thrown out as marked wrong.
The future Her Honor, the Mayor, Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr., defeatd Councilman C. T. Bruce with a narrow margin of 51-47.
Elected council-ladies are Mrs. C. J. Miller, Miss Ruby Jenkins, Mrs. M. M. Hawkins, Mrs. J. W. Price, Mrs. J. W. Critzer, and Miss Elizabeth Racer.
70.8%
