The First Washington elected its first all-woman governing body Tuesday, June 13, 1960. On that date the town was exactly 200 years, 10 months, and 9 days old.
Maybe George Washington shouldn't 'uv done it. If he hadn’t laid off the town, this catastrophe might have been prevented.
But, as Snippy Miller had said, prior to the election, “The women have always run the town anyway, they might as well do it legally.”
