In my past I have made sad mistakes; in my future, no doubt, I shall make more, unwillingly, but this is not one of them. In a town that will have a woman for mayor, a town council of women, ia woman editor of the paper, a woman cashier at the bank, and 22 widows—here’s one place where the less said the better.

I would not object to belonging to social clubs, but I would remember that my home was the place for my hopes and fears.
