In my past I have made sad mistakes; in my future, no doubt, I shall make more, unwillingly, but this is not one of them. In a town that will have a woman for mayor, a town council of women, ia woman editor of the paper, a woman cashier at the bank, and 22 widows—here’s one place where the less said the better.

I would pray night and morning and cultivate every living thing which could bear leaves and flowers and when the end came, thus surrounded and following these hopes and aspirations with the sunlight painting its picture through the trees and over the gables, I would bless God and die.
