“Oak Hill” has been in the same family for the past four generations and with the present sale still remains in the family, for the grandfathers of the present and recent owners were brothers.
It is stated that parts of the house are over 200 years old and definite information is not available as to the date it was built. Records show that Mrs. Lucy Miller Wood and John Wood, greatgrandparents of Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Richardson, were the first Woods to live there. Locally, "Oak Hill” is referred to as the “Walton Wood Place*” and has been fa* moos'"in the county for many years for its gracious hospitality. Ned Johnson's home, "The Oaks” adjoins "Oak Hill” farm on the south.

On Friday evenings through December 15 a Classis to be held at the Amissville Baptist church. The book being studied is "What We Believe” by William Cooke Boone. At this time twenty-seven have been enrolled. The class is taught by the pastor, Rev. M. E. Sliger. The public is cordially invited to attend.
WASHINGTON BAPTIST DEACONS MEET J** The deacons of the Washington Baptist church met Monday night, November 27, at the home of Rev. and Mrs. M. E. Sliger. The meeting was called by W. C. . Campbell, chairman, of the board of deacons^ The purpose of the meeting was to draw up a constitution and by-laws for the church* The rotating system of deacons fwas also discussed and adopted. The following deacons were present: W. C. Campbell, R. V. Snead, B. R. Cox, E. M. Jones, A. J. Slaughter and G. L. Updike.
FLINT HILL BAPTIST DEACONS MEET
The board of deacons of the Flint Hill Baptist church held their regular quarterly business meeting Monday night, November 20, in the home of Rev. and Mrs. M. E. Sliger. The main item of business was the discussion of the 1951 church budget, which will be presented to the church for adoption on December 10. The budget was for the total amount of $3,160.00. The following deacons were present: B. J.- Wood, chairman; David Corbin, Charles Wood, Dick Latham, and Earl Edmonds.- f- -» .
