Kennebec Potato
Is High Yielder
The Kennebec potato, a new* corner^ to the vegetable world, has produced the highest yields among about 16 varieties tested at Virginia Experiment Station during the past two years.
Hr. Flood S. Andrews, associate horticulturist, said the potato ia blight-resistant and matures about two weeks later than the Cobbler.
Dr. Andrews said that several new seedlings and varieties are showing “definite merit with respect to smoothness, shape, yield, quality and resistance to disease.”
He pointed out that market preference for a smoother, brighter, cleaner potato emphasizes the importance of a breeding and testing program.
